THE REPUBLIC OF BELARUS TRADITIONALLY PARTICIPATES IN THE INTERNATIONAL AGRICULTURAL TRADE FAIR NOVI SAD, ONE OF THE OLDEST AND MOST PRESTIGIOUS AGRICULTURAL EVENTS IN SERBIA. PARTICIPATION IN THE EXHIBITION PROVIDES ENTERPRISES WITH AN OPPORTUNITY TO PRESENT THEIR ADVANCED DEVELOPMENTS AND FIND PARTNERS. THIS YEAR, THE NATIONAL EXPOSITION OF BELARUS IN NOVI SAD DEMONSTRATED THE ACHIEVEMENTS OF SCIENTIFIC ORGANIZATIONS, CHEMICAL INDUSTRY ENTERPRISES AND INDUSTRIAL FLAGSHIPS. THE EXHIBITION WAS PRECEDED BY THE SERBIA-BELARUS BUSINESS FORUM, WHERE BUSINESSMEN OF THE TWO COUNTRIES DISCUSSED FUTURE COOPERATION PROJECTS.
Serbia is an important trade and economic partner of Belarus in the Balkans. The free trade agreement and the visa-free regime between the countries provide an additional incentive for expanding mutually beneficial cooperation.
According to the Embassy of the Republic of Belarus in Serbia, industrial cooperation, food industry, agriculture, construction, pharmaceuticals, credit, financial and banking sectors are seen as promising areas for the business interaction of the two countries.
The Belarusian engineering industry products are in demand in Serbia, such as BELAZ mining dump trucks, MAZ buses and trolleybuses, fire fighting equipment based on the MAZ chassis, BELARUS tractors, Gomselmash harvesters, and other agricultural equipment.
Assembly plants for Belarusian tractors and buses (Belarus-Agropanonka and Vulovic transport) have been opened. The products of a number of Belarusian engineering enterprises are sold through dealer agreements.
In addition, Belarusian food and agricultural products, consumer goods are represented in Serbia. The countries are stepping up scientific, technical and innovative cooperation, including in the field of information and communication technologies, medicine, mechanical engineering, and ecology.
Taking into account the prospects and wide opportunities for bilateral cooperation, Belarus traditionally takes part in the International Agricultural Trade Fair Novi Sad.
The Trade Fair Novi Sad is one of the largest and most prestigious agricultural events in Serbia, one of the leading exhibitions in Europe and worldwide. It has been held annually since 1957, attracting approximately 150,000 visitors and over 1000 exhibitors. The purpose of the event is to highlight the agricultural industry, to familiarize visitors with high-quality products and modern trends in the development of agribusiness.
This year, the International Agricultural Trade Fair Novi Sad was organized for the 90th consecutive time. It was held on May 20–26 with the participation of 1100 exhibitors from 26 countries.
Belarus had a national exposition at the trade fair, organized by the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The exhibition operator of the Belarusian pavilion was Belinterexpo enterprise of the BelCCI.
Ahead of the opening of the International Agricultural Trade Fair and the Belarusian exposition, the Serbia-Belarus Business Forum was held in Novi Sad. It was also organized by the BelCCI in cooperation with the Serbian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Regional Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Novi Sad.
Chairman of the BelCCI Mikhael Miatlikov, Director of the Regional Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Novi Sad Olivera Simovic, First Deputy Chairman of the Minsk City Executive Committee Nadezhda Lazarevich, Head of the Center for Asia, the Russian Federation and the CIS of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia Jovana Majstorovic, Honorary Consul of the Republic of Belarus in Novi Sad Dragoljub Švonja, as well as representatives of more than 50 Belarusian and Serbian enterprises and organizations took part in the business forum.
In his welcoming address, the BelCCI Chairman noted that the Belarusian private sector has genuine interest and concrete proposals on advancing cooperation and implementing joint projects with the Serbian side. A considerable potential seems to be available for stepping up bilateral interaction in such areas as logistics, veterinary medicine, wholesale trade, science, food industry, meat and dairy production.
The Chairman of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry also underlined that the BelCCI and the CCI of Serbia are intent on providing all kinds of support to the businesses, which are interested in partnership. The two Chambers have set up the BelarusianSerbian Business Council, and its sessions take place within the framework of the sessions of the Belarus-Serbia Intergovernmental Commission. "We are open to cooperation and believe that the format of the Business Council is the best one for discussing emerging issues, for enhancing the effectiveness of business ties between representatives of Belarus and Serbia. Particularly, in current conditions for doing business. We are ready for organizing events in this format", Mikhael Miatlikov noted.
Apart from that, he invited Serbian enterprises to visit Belarus and to participate in international exhibition events, which are scheduled to take place this year.
"On behalf of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry I can assure you that we will do our utmost to provide the necessary support and assistance to Serbian and Belarusian companies. I wish all participants of the forum successful and fruitful work in search of new opportunities for mutually beneficial cooperation," the Chairman of the BelCCI summed up his address.
Participants of the business forum discussed promising avenues of the advancement of trade and economic interaction. Overviews of investment opportunities of the city and the free economic zone Novi Sad were presented as well as the preferences available to companies residing in Belarusian free economic zones, in particular, FEZ Grodnoinvest. The export potential of those Belarusian companies that are taking part in the visit to Serbia was also outlined.
A separate part of the form was dedicated to the signing of a cooperation agreement between Grodnoinvest and Novi Sad free economic zones.
After the plenary session ended, representatives of the private sector continued working in the format of bilateral business talks focusing on such areas as agriculture, petrochemical industry, industrial production, machine engineeringing, export and import operations.
On May 20, the Belarusian business delegation attended the National Exposition of the Republic of Belarus at the Agricultural Trade Fair Novi Sad. The pavilion was opened on that day by the Chairman of the BelCCI Mikhael Miatlikov, First Deputy Chairman of the Minsk City Executive Committee Nadezhda Lazarevich, Honorary Consul of Belarus Dragoljub Švonja.
Scientific organizations, enterprises – manufacturers of petrochemical and industrial products represented Belarus at the trade fair. The list of participants included State Committee for Science and Technology (State Institution "Belarusian Institute for System Analysis and Information Support"), organizations of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, institutions of the Ministry of Education, as well as petrochemical enterprises Grodno Azot JSC, Mineral Wax Plant JSC, Belshina OJSC, Lakokraska OJSC, Mogilevkhimvolokno OJSC. The participants presented more than 60 scientific and technical developments.
Besides, samples of agricultural machinery from the flagships of the Belarusian industry were presented at the outdoor area.
The National Exposition of the Republic of Belarus received much attention from the participants and visitors of the Novi Sad trade fair. From the very first hours of its work, active negotiations were held at the stands of Belarusian manufacturers, as well as discussions of further interaction options and product supplies.
Thus, organizations of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus established business contacts with a number of companies from Macedonia, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina. Negotiations were also held with representatives of Biounik D.O.O., a company producing biotechnological products, which resulted in an agreement on scientific and technical cooperation and agreements to study the issue of possible supplies of the biotechnological preparations, produced by the Institute of Microbiology of the National Academy of Sciences and the Scientific and Production Association "Chemical Synthesis and Biotechnologies", to Serbia.
Representatives of chemical industry enterprises held meetings and negotiations with current and potential partners from Serbia, Turkey, Slovenia, Austria, Croatia, and other countries. The possible expanding of the range of supplied goods was discussed, as well as new export contracts.
Besides, an agreement was reached to supply Serbia with LED lamps produced by the Center for LED and Optoelectronic Technologies of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.
Therefore, participation in the Novi Sad International Agricultural Trade Fair provided Belarusian enterprises and experts with an opportunity to present their potential, exchange experience, knowledge and best practices with colleagues from other countries; contributed to the expansion of business contacts, export agreements, the development of innovations and their further implementation into the production process.
