BelCCI representatives take part in the meeting of the SCO Business Council Board and Business Forum in Astana

Deputy Chairman of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Denis Meleshkin and Head of the Directorate-General for Legal Support and Digital Technologies of the BelCCI Vitaly Vabishchevich took part in the meeting of the Board of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Business Council and the SCO Business Forum held in Astana (Republic of Kazakhstan).

Representing the Republic of Belarus as an observer country at the SCO Business Forum dedicated to trade and economic cooperation, interaction in the field of culture and tourism, the Deputy Chairman of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry noted that participation in the events is especially relevant in the run-up to of the Summit to be held in Astana on July 3–4, at which Belarus will progress to a more qualitative stage of joint work within the SCO: it will become a member state of the organization.

Denis Meleshkin highly praised the opportunities and potential of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization: "As the largest association of Belarusian business, we see a significant potential in economic cooperation, we are interested in its development. And of course, the SCO Business Council plays an important role in this".

Deputy Chairman of the BelCCI also emphasized that Belarus is going to the SCO with ideas and proposals for joint work. Among the priorities are the following: strengthening business cooperation; development of the financial mechanisms secured from external influence, formation of effective forms and platforms for business interaction; practical assistance to business in the framework of foreign economic transactions.

"Chambers of Commerce and Industry have serious experience and the necessary infrastructure to provide assistance on these issues. It should be utilized," Denis Meleshkin noted. "Besides, we find it important to inform businesses about SCO, its goals and the opportunities opening through integration. The BelCCI is planning such a seminar in Belarus."

On the margins of the forum, the Deputy Chairman of the BelCCI held talks with the Executive Secretary of the SCO Business Council Sergey Kanavsky on the peculiarities of the formation of a national part of the SCO Business Council and on interaction with the Secretariat of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
